Lisa and her dad Al enjoyed an afternoon on the water with Capt. Jimmy Burnsed today. Lisa was sharing the boat with soon to be husband Jeff Peller.  Jeff and Lisa hail for Canada, and are loving the great weather. Capt. Jimmy didn't send a picture of Jeff, maybe he had better luck catching Lisa than any Red fish.

Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team - The Burnsed Family

Frank Meddendoph of Sanibel Island , fishing with friends  Lee and Pete of the Cincinnati, OH area enjoyed a morning on the water with Capt. Jim Burnsed of the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team.
Frank and Lee
The three men played football together at the University of Cincinnate back in 1949 - 1950 ( or so) and have had a life long friendship

The friends had a great fish fry later that night, with more than enough fish for them ,there wives and friends. Fishing with the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team off Captiva Island always makes for a good trip, but add friends and you have the recipe for a great day.

Capts. Jim and Jimmy Burnsed will be hosting an overnight camp out  this weekend for CREW. Crew is a group of young christian adults in Ft. Myers that Capt. Jimmy Burnsed of the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team is a member. Although Capt. Jimmy at 36 said he might be the oldest guy in the room.
Capt. Jim and Jimmy plan to use the costume to stir up a little fun on the camp out.
I hope no one is packing a gun.

Don't you love those feet ? Carly

santiva Saltwater Fishing Team - The Burnsed Family

Zach
Zach Beldton and his Mom enjoyed the  afternoon of Feb. 21 Fishing with Capt. Jimmy Burnsed of the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team. Capt Jimmy was using live shrimp under a popping cork. The captains of the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team are always prepared to make sure the kids have a good time. I'm sure this was an afternoon of memories for the Beldton family. Great job Zach, Mom didn't do too bad either.

Mrs Judith Smiley fishing with Santiva Saltwater Fishing Teams, Capt. Jimmy Burnsed was very happy with her catch of sea trout. Judith and her husband Larry, are repeat customers of Capt. Jimmy's from the Washington D.C. area.  I'll bet that smile has more to do with NOT being in D.C. than with her catch while fishing with the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team

Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team - The Burnsed Family

Number one guide for Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team, Capt. Jim Burnsed took this picture of Eric Nybakken boating a nice sea trout. Eric and his Dad were visiting Captiva last week from MN.  They were frequent visitors of the past, but haven't been to Captiva for a few years. Seeing that smile on Eric's face, makes me think they just might be back real soon.

Bill Cheney and friend fishing Feb 19th with Capt. Jim boating grouper, and enjoying their afternoon with the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team .  Bill enjoys several trips out with Capt. Jim each year.

5 high school friends meeting up on Captiva for some fun. " Girls Just Wanta Have Fun"
Getting aboard with any of the Santiva Team is the way to do it

Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team - The Burnsed Family

Today Feb 11 was less than a perfect weather day. It rained lightly all day ( something the local weatherman failed to mention last night) and the temperature was in the low 60'd. Quite a shock after having spring weather  in the high 70'd for the past few weeks. The Santiva Team still hit the waters.
Capt. Jim fished the morning with repeat customer John Valle. The group spent their wet morning catching sea trout and sheepshead. Maybe not real exciting for the Santiva Saltwater team, but it sure beat, looking out at snow and ice. Capt. Jim spent the afternoon with the Crandall's from Missouri catching sea trout
Capt Rob of the Santiva saltwater team, made it out for a morning of fishing, but long time customer and friend John Weaver op-ed out for the afternoon. John spends his winters on Captiva , so he has the time to wait for a better weather day.
I told you last night about friend D. Butler from MO,  I found this picture of D.B on Jimbo's camera from last saturday afternoon's trip.  I said his Golf game was a little better than his fishing, now you know what I was talking about (haha  WAY to go Dick... Hey is there any body in Missouri this time of year ?

Fishing Captiva with Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team

WOW....Keeping up with blogging is a big job, I can't believe today is Feb 10th already.
Santiva Salt Water Fishing Team has been busy,  bring in good catches of trout both morning and afternoon.  Capt. Jimmy Burnsed , fished Mrs. D. Franks last friday, her last day before returning to cold Atlanta, GA. She was happy to be taking home fish to fry  for friends and family back home.

The Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team senior member Capt. Jim Burnsed, enjoyed a warm but cloudy afternoon today fishing J. Schubert of Captiva. After boating enough fish for dinner, the guys enjoyed catch and release. ( and a few fish tales)
Son-in-law and 3rd member of the Santiva Team, Capt. Rob McKay took the day off to continue the work on his and (youngest daughter Amy) new home. Moving day is March 1, and Rob, Amy ,Abby and Carly are all very excited. The girls are looking forward each  to having their own rooms. The remolding has been extensive, and between time on the water and working on the house at night, I'm sure Rob will be glad when it comes to an end.
Capt. Jimmy Burnsed has got his own remolding problems too. Jimmy and wife Cordula, took on their
home a few weeks back......just a few up grades Jimmy said..Haha, looks like a war zone over there.
Jimmy pulled his boat last Tuesday, for some maintenance.  Some motherly advice, would have been "one job at a time" but I wasn't asked.
Before I close this Santiva saltwater Fishing Team blog out, I have to mention friend and long time customer  D. Butler of Missouri fishing last Saturday with Jim ( aka Jimbo).  Dick loves Sanibel, boating and GOLF
But he is not our best "catcher" Mr. Butler prefers sitting back and watching the rest of the family.

Number one first mate Tommy has retired from Jimbo's boat. Tommy turned 61 last June,  and is spending his days drinking diet coke, eating honey buns and making pot holders.  If you don't know Tommy, he has been with the Burnsed family for about 35 years, Tommy is downs syndrome and a common sites on Captiva for the past 32 years. Jim and I are blessed.

Daughter Tracy Brewer is back at work I'm happy to say she is feeling 100% better after back surgery last summer. If your in our area looking for a hair dresser, just give me a call and I'll hook you up with Tracy.
She does a great job and is a color specialist ( she has been keeping her mom blond for 20 years).

Capt. Jim and Jimmy Burnsed

Jim and Jimmy can't wait until spring gobbler season arrives in March. They have their dates marked off to hunt. Thought we would share some of last years photos with friends

Capt. Jimmy Burnsed , captiva fishing

February 3 Capt. Jimmy Burnsed enjoyed an afternoon on the water with long time customer and friend Lisa Franks of Tennessee.  Lisa and friends spent the afternoon catching sea trout , loving the 79 degree weather and sharing stories of years gone. We are sad to say that we lost Lisa's husband Lynn last winter
and everyone was missing him aboard the boat this year. Lynn' s humor could only be matched by his love for life, wife and fishing.

Today February 4th all three captains are out for the day, we will be sharing pictures and "high sea tales"
later when the boats return with the their stories

Fishing Captiva Feb 2, 2011

It's the end of the day, and Capt. Jim and Capt Rob were very happy with todays trips. Capt. Jim fishing this morning with Gerry Risch and friend of Chicago went home with nice catch of sea trout. When I booked Gerry for his charter he said he would love to catch trout to cook for dinner tonight.  Sounds like the Risch's will be eating fish tonight. Capt. Rob also reported having a great day catching sea trout.
Rob fished this morning with George Norton  and this afternoon with a couple by the name of Bur from France. The Bur's had such a good time, enjoying todays 79 degree weather, they're going out again this week. Capt. Jim fished with Jeff Case from Missouri this afternoon. Now I don't know if you are going to believe this story, but Capt. Jim said the wind blew his anchor......out of the boat !  Now being the smart guy he is, he had a buoy attached to the rope, so he swung the boat around to retrieve the rope and anchor...........The wind blew the boat over the rope, the motor cut the rope....Still lost the anchor.
Fishing was great just the same, and the weather is sunny and warm ...just windy.

Captiva Island Florida, Burnsed Family

It is windy today on Captiva, but sunny and in the 70d's.  Capt. Jim and Capt. Rob are out on the water with fishing charters.
They were both concerned that the wind will have the water muddy and make fishing tough.
Jimmy fished yesterday with repeat customers, and reported to Jim and Rob that he has had easier days.
I haven't had any report as of yet, so I'll be happy to hear how the day went.
I spoke with the Crandalls from Missouri, they are snowed in and will not get out today, had to cancel there fishing trips for the next 4 days. I couldn't help myself...just had to let her know what to expect on Captiva...warm and sunny.
I hope winter is over for us, I think today is ground hog day, doesn't appear to be much hope for the central and north east states for an early spring.
