 Well it huffed and it puffed !!! and it almost blew us away.  The weather has not been kind for The Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team......I think it started raining on Sunday afternoon Oct. 16th and stopped about 72 hours later.  THAN our first cold front blew thru....... high temperatures on Captiva today were about 74.  Capt. Jim broke out his jacket...........

The water is murky from all the rain water and high wind, not the best fishing conditions.  The good thing about being an Island is it will not take nature long to clear things up.  We are looking forward to clear water and sunny days by the weekend.

The morning charters reported catches of red fish, the afternoon was tough with  the" fish cleaning tables" gracing a few sheepsheads.  One thing about fishing , It can always be better tomorrow.

Sheepshead sometimes is referred to as the "poor mans lobster" broiled in butter, it might just fool the best of taste buds.

   SLEEP LAST    Toss and   turn any....   Wish the heat was higher...   Maybe the air con   Wasn't on...   Had to go to the bathroom......  Need a drink of   water...   ?   ?             Yes... It is like that!   Count our Blessings

I do not like war......but I like loosing young men and women for no reason even less ! If you are not praying for OUR troops, good men and women that have put their lives on hold for America and freedom, than shame on you !
We say God Bless America ...but why should he, when was the last time America stood up for God ?

Enjoy...the sunrise, and the sunset.......enjoy life, good food, religious freedom and fishing...BUT PLEASE DON'T FORGET OUR TROOPS AND THAT WE ARE IN A WAR

While fishing with Capt. Jim Burnsed

the David Whitmore party had great fun boating some large Jew fish.  Jew fish are protected in our waters and were returned unharmed to the Gulf of Mexico.  Capt. Jim and party were fishing out side Blind Pass.

Description: head and fins covered with small black spots; irregular dark and vertical bars present on the sides of body; pectoral and caudal fins rounded; first dorsal fin shorter than and not separated from second dorsal; adults huge, up to 800 pounds; eyes small. Similar Fish: other grouper. Where found: NEARSHORE often around docks, in deep holes, and on ledges; young often occur in estuaries, especially around oyster bars; more abundant in southern Florida than in northern waters. So I thought this is the Burnsed family blog too. I should say something about the family.  1st picture is my handsome father Edgar ( looking good for 85) he and his brother and sister are the number one fish eaters in the family.

Next is our grand daughters, brought to us by younger daughter Amy and her husband Capt. Rob McKay.  Very smart girls , they take after their grandma.  I would say pretty but you can see that for yourselves

Now if you were ever on the boat with Capt Jim Burnsed between 1982 and 2009....you will remember 1st mate Tommy.  Tommy had his 62 birthday last June, he spends his days driving me crazy now ...ha ha

 Wayne Tanguay visiting Captiva from Scarborough Maine spent his day on the waters of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico fishing with Capt. Jim Burnsed of the Santiva Saltwater Fishing Team.  Wayne and friend opp ed for a full day reeling in sharks, grouper and other species of fish .  Today was a great day here in paradise the temperatures were in the low 80d's with mild humidity , blue sunny skies and emerald green water.

Our news media is squawking about red tide, but its off the coast.......they just love to try and make something out of nothing.  If you ever hear a news report that might influence you not to visit our area, give me a call 239 472 1779 for the real story
